Final Pages!

Hey Everybody,

When Cap first got home to Garland, I could think that right away he was missing Clavrage School and everything that he had done for the past 2 months even though the whole time he was there he was wishing that he was back at Garland again. I also think that Rain doesn't want to talk about it because she might feel that she is losing him. When Cap wrote that note to Rain about going to the Halloween dance, I knew that he knew that Garland wasn't the place for him and he wanted to go back to the real world. I was so happy when Sophie came to pick Cap up because that meant that she didn't completely hate him and forget about him when he left.

At the beginning of chapter 28, when Ms.D was so worried about Sophie. I thought that Sophie should have told her where she was going because I think that Ms.D would have supported her in doing the right thing.

On page 190, I got a full understanding of what Hugh really was on the inside. All he wanted from the start even before Cap was there was to be popular. Wanting this made him jelous, mean and make him do stuff that was really hurtful and could have killed someone. I think now that from the biginning Hugh was using Cap. Especially when he had to make fake tears at "Cap's memorial Service".

Speaking of the memorial service, You know how we talked about Cap changing everyone in the book but not really changing himself, well I thought that on page 192 there was all the things that Cap did to change and help all the other kids. I thought that was a really powerful page.

At Cap's memorial survice, when he started saying goodbye to everyone by name, I was amazed. I mean at the beginning of the book Zach only told him to do that as a joke and I think that since he actually took the time to learn everyone's name that is truly amazing. "Eleven Hundred Students. Eleven Hundred Names. He never hesitated, and he never got one wrong."

You know when we were talking about how Cap didn't change at our group meeting. Well he might not have changed but he sure learned a lot. (Example: on page 204 he says everything that he learned from his 2 short months at Claverage Middle School. It is truly extrodinary how he learned all these things but most of them we knew when we were maybe 4 or 5.)

I always thought that Cap was going to stay in the city and continue going to school there, but it was still a real shock when they sold Garland for 17 MILLION DOLLARS.
I also didn't expect Rain to show up in a Mercedes wearing a designer blouse. That was quite a surprise.

On the last page of the book I smiled at the exact same time that Cap's did. I am glad that things worked out and that he can go to school in the real world. (Plus he gets to watch t&t again.) I thought that the last line of the book was really powerful and could mean a lot of different things. "And I already knew all of there names." I think this means that he didn't know at first what he wanted but when it came down to the final decision he choose that he wanted to go to school with people so he could have friends and learn about stuff in the outside world. I thought this was a really powerful ending.

I LOVE THIS BOOK! I loved reading it as well.

What do you think?
